tl;dr Edit default.cfg and set Fullscreen False and Resolution 1920x1080

The game launches in exclusive fullscreen mode at 1280x720 by default which will resize your windows really small and possibly mess up the organization of your desktop icons. Set to a reasonable windowed resolution until you get it configured in-game to your liking.
Once you are happy with your settings, re-edit default.cfg and go fullscreen at your true desired resolution.

tl;dr Launch the game from the EXE not Steam to avoid Steam launch errors and a Steam issue where it can't tell if the game is no longer running
- Find EXE files by Steam > Game (right-click) > Manage > Browse Local Files

tl;dr Download blank BIK file (link), delete or rename Video folder files out of the way: SPL_ESRB_UBI_CLANCY.bik, SPL_Intro_Trailer.bik, SPL_RSE_Logo_fade.bik, and then copy&rename the blank BIK to each of those file names
- Find BIK files by Steam > Game (right-click) > Manage > Browse Local Files

tl;dr Use Borderless Gaming to force borderless windowed mode when game is configured in windowed mode
Game only supports old exclusive fullscreen mode or old windowed mode with title bar and taskbar visible
Configure the game from the default.cfg file to non-fullscreen windowed mode and then Borderless Gaming can force borderless windowed mode from there

Launch by Future Soldier DX11.exe (or Future Soldier DX9.exe for DirectX 9 mode)
- Find EXE files by Steam > Game (right-click) > Manage > Browse Local Files

tl;dr: Set Run this program as an administrator under Future Soldier DX11.exe > Properties (right-click) > Compatibility
Also needed for Future Soldier DX9.exe if you choose to run the game in DirectX 9 mode
